Optua UK - Community Brain Injury Services

Optua UK Community Brain Injury Services has been providing a range of specialist support services for people with an acquired brain injury since 1994. The Services work closely with rehabilitation teams to design support and community rehabilitation packages for people with acquired brain injury living in their own homes.

Our Community Brain Injury Services now come under the umbrella of Optua UK, a company associated to Optua which enables the service to operate outside Suffolk. Additional services have now been developed in Shropshire.

Our Community Brain Injury Services manage several supported housing schemes for people with acquired brain injury across Suffolk, to enable them to live as full and as independent a life as possible. They also provide Outreach Support Services to give people with acquired brain injury living in their own homes the support they need to live in the community.

The services employ an experienced and skilled staff team to meet the individual needs of people with acquired brain injury. Case Management Co-ordinators ensure that a great emphasis is placed on encouraging people with acquired brain injury to be as independent as possible and to take as many decisions about their lives as their disability allows.

Our Community Brain Injury Services can provide the next step for people leaving medical rehabilitation to give them the opportunity to return to a community setting with the specific support they need. Anyone can purchase our services, either through their social care or health services, or privately.

The Department of Health has identified our Community Brain Injury Services as an example of good practice under Quality Requirements 7 and 8 of the National Service Framework for Long Term Conditions.
