Learning through Leisure has now become part of Optua Leisure.

Learning through Leisure offers carers the chance of some well deserved respite care. It does this by offering people with a learning disability the opportunity to increase their independence and social skills through enjoying new leisure and holidaying experiences.

In 2006 Learning through Leisure approached Optua as they were having some financial difficulties and needed to take action to make sure they could still carry on running their services. The trustees identified Optua as the charity they would most like to merge with. The merger was formally approved and the staff of Learning through Leisure officially became employed by Optua on the 1st January 2007.

Optua will carry on providing the service under the same name as part of Optua's services rather than a charity in its own right. Learning through Leisure's Holiday Explorer scheme and monthly clubs fit in very well with Optua's own Leisure service.
