Disability Showcase Day in Bury St Edmunds - July 2011

On Saturday 23rd July Optua held its 9th Disability Sport Showcase Day. The event was part of the official London 2012 Open Weekend and around 90 disabled people took the chance to take part in taster sessions in a range of sports and dance, theatre and music workshops.

The event was attended by people of all ages with a physical, learning or sensory disability. The sports on offer included football, multi-sports, boccia, sailing, snooker, wheelchair basketball, swimming and powerlifting.

Optua's Showcase Days have been given the offical 2012 Inspire Mark are part of Optua's Suffolk Disability Sport Academy project which aims to encourage more disabled people to get into sport and become more fit and active.
