Fitness initiative for disabled people
The Suffolk Health Inclusion Programme was launched in 2008 and aims to get more disabled people in West Suffolk into the gym to improve their fitness and overall health.
The Health Inclusion Programme (HIP) was co-ordinated by Optua in partnership with the West Suffolk Local Strategic Partnership, St Edmundsbury Borough Council, Forest Heath District Council and Babergh District Council. The project is now finished and provided disabled people with a personal tailored fitness programme in their local gym.
Although the programme has now finished, some of the leisure centres involved are still running accessible gym sessions for disabled people so if you're interested please get in touch with them or call us on 01473 836770 for more information. The Leisure Centres which took part were Sudbury, Great Cornard, Brandon, Mildenhall, Newmarket and Bury St Edmunds.
