Launch of new Waveney Disability Sports Forum marks 1,000 days to the 2012 Paralympics!

We are helping to launch a new Disability Sport Forum for the Waveney area on 03 December in Lowestoft. This event will coincide with the International Day of Disabled People and also marks 1,000 days until the 2012 Paralympic Games start in London. The forum aims to promote disability sport opportunities in the Waveney area. East Anglian Sailing Trust (EAST) events for 2009

Disability Martial Arts Association

The Disability Martial Arts Association is a wide ranging support network for people with all types of disabilities. The charity has its own website at www.disabilitymartialartsassociation.co.uk.


Wheelchair football team

The Ipswich Charioteers Wheelchair Football team are holding monthly sessions in Ipswich and have recently been given their own charity status. The team is currently meeting using the Bramford Road Methodist Church in Ipswich until February 2010. West Suffolk Tigers athletics club

West Suffolk Tigers is a new disability athletics club based at Bury St Edmunds Leisure Centre. The club meets every Wednesday from 4pm to 5pm. For more information call 01284 757495 or 01473 836770.


I-Sport Suffolk

A new forum to improve local opportunities and raise awareness of sports for people with visual impairments has been launched along with a new multi-sports club for people with a visual impairment. The I-Sport initiative has been organised by British Blind Sport and Optua. Please contact Optua Leisure if you'd like to find out more out about I-Sport. Call 01473 836770.


Babergh Athletics Club - Sudbury

An inclusive athletics club available to disabled people up to the age of 15. The club runs every Monday at Sudbury Sports Centre.

New website for Ipswich Disability Sport

A new website has been set up by the Ipswich Disability Sports Forum. The site will be used to display up to date information about disability sport opportunities in Ipswich and the surrounding area. To access the site click here.

Suffolk Spartans Powerlifting Club

An inclusive powerlifting club based at East Bergholt Sports Centre, which was set up with support from Optua.
